Actor Luke Newberry has quipped that he would be up for starring in a Harry Potter spin-off.

The In the Flesh star was set to appear as Potter’s godson, Teddy Lupin, in the final film in the franchise, 2011’s … and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. However, the scenes he filmed were sliced from the final cut, which Newberry described as “gutting”.

“It was my dream! But I was technically there, on set,” he told Radio Times. “I was never on screen, so I could always appear. Teddy Lupin: The Spin Off Show. That could happen.”

Newberry was recently cast in Russell T Davies’ new gay-themed comedy-drama series Banana, which will air on E4 alongside its Channel 4 companion show Cucumber. Click here to find out more about the Banana cast.

Newberry, 24, was BAFTA-nominated for his break-out role in acclaimed BBC3 drama In The Flesh, in which he played an ex-zombie grieving over the death of the man he loved.

Meanwhile, a new study has found that children who read the Harry Potter books are more likely to be tolerant of gay people – find out more about the study here.
