Introducing BOHO Parties, in association with Attitude

By Will Stroude

With the evening sun beating down on Vista – The Trafalgar Hotel’s exclusive rooftop bar in the heart of London – you really couldn’t pick a better day for the first BOHO party of the year. Held every Sunday throughout the summer, BOHO is the gay-friendly place to be for a chilled evening in sophisticated surrounds. What’s more, Attitude is sponsoring this summer’s events at the Trafalgar Square hotspot, starting with an exclusive launch on June 1.

We tagged along to the first event of the year to see what’s in store and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Things kick off at 3pm each Sunday with BOHO’s Bloody Mary Brunch, or ‘drunch’ – a liquid lunch with great food and drink and a relaxed atmosphere. 5pm sees things move up a gear, with top DJs taking to the decks and dishing some chilled house classics to see the sun out until 10pm. The first thing you notice as you step out of the elevator into the plush bar and garden is the breathtaking backdrop: Nelson’s column punctuates uninterrupted 360-degree views of central London, and while you’ll have a tough time tearing yourself away from the roof’s edge, the summer cocktail menu is the perfect motivator. Party-goers can sup on a range of refreshments from Mojitos to The Kiss of a Limoncello – a blend of gin, limoncello and agave syrup which perfectly matches the party’s fresh and funky vibe. BOHO’s chefs and mixologists are on hand throughout the evening, serving up a range of delicious drinks and platters while you take in phenomenal view.

With a buzzing atmosphere and men as hot as the weather, it wasn’t long before we were chatting to the bar’s friendly mix of guys. We bumped into one of Essex’s finest, Charlie King, who was lapping up the rays – and the drinks – and has his fingers crossed he’ll make it into Attitude’s Hot 100 later this year. “I didn’t know what to expect,” he told us, “but there’s such a great vibe here and people of all types and ages. The drinks are flowing, the music’s banging and now the sun’s setting I’m starting to have a bit of a moment!” As the sun slipped over the London skyline and lights lit up the city, it was hard to disagree with him. It’s a guest list-only event so make sure you put your name down in advance, but BOHO at Vista is a refreshing gay-friendly addition to the heart of London; the perfect place to spend a hazy summer evening in great company.
