Irish PM Enda Kenny enjoys drink in Dublin gay bar

Ireland’s Taoiseach Enda Kenny has been pictured enjoying a drink in a Dublin gay bar.
The country’s leader visited Pantibar with the LGBT division of his Fine Gael party on Tuesday (December 2).
The bar on Dublin’s Chapel Street is owned by drag queen Panti Bliss, who was awarded the Editor’s Special Award at the Attitude Awards in October after she speech on homophobia earlier this year – find out more here.
Writing about the visit on Facebook, Panti said: “It’s a changed world in many ways. Why’d I post the picture? Because the Taoiseach in a gay bar is a first. It’s significant because only a few years ago a Taoiseach wouldn’t have dared, so it shows how times have changed.”
Kenny’s visit comes just months before the Irish people head to the polls to vote on gay marriage, with a referendum planned for the first half of 2015.
Irish actor Colin Farrell recently wrote emotional open letter pleading with Irish voters to support same-sex marriage – read more here.
