ITV has officially announced a new series of Benidorm.
The award-winning comedy’s seventh series is set to go into production next week. The new series will see the return of Johnny Vegas (Geoff ‘The Oracle’ Maltby), Elsie Kelly (Noreen Maltby) and Crissy Rock (Janey York).
Meanwhile, Jake Canuso (Mateo Castellanos), Sherrie Hewson (Joyce Temple-Savage) and Tim Healy (Les/Lesley Marshall) will all be back too. Every episode in the new series will be written by the show’s creator Derren Litten.
The sixth series of the hour-long comedy completed its run on ITV earlier this year, averaging close to seven million viewers an episode. The series finale featured a memorable guest appearance from Joan Collins (pictured right, with Jake Canuso).
Announcing the new series, ITV’s Elaine Bedell said in a statement: “After another successful run on screen we’re thrilled that a new series is about to start shooting on location in Spain. Were equally pleased that some familiar faces from the Solana’s past will be making a welcome return to the sunshine.”
Recent Attitude cover star Philip Olivier also made an appearance in the latest series of the show, looking as gorgeous as ever. There is no word yet on whether he will be returning for the new series, but see below for a reminder of his homoerotic Benidorm guest spot.
