James Franco labels ‘seemingly gay’ story ‘homophobic’
By Josh Haggis
James Franco has spoken out against a recent web article claiming he is in a “seemingly gay” relationship, labelling it “homophobic”.
Earlier this week, Franco revealed during an interview with The New York Times that he lives with his friend, actor and director Scott Haze, with whom he worked on his latest film Child of God.
Franco’s comments were picked up by various news outlets, with some suggesting that Haze and Franco are in a romantic relationship.
“But theirs is the kind of relationship — somewhat ambiguous, seemingly gay, probably romantic—that almost always sends The New York Times into a bizarre moral panic,” read an article on Gawker.
Franco has since hit back at Gawker‘s article on Instagram by posting a picture of their headline along with the caption: “GAWKER – always getting the cutting edge, homophobic scoop!!! Go see CHILD OF GOD in theaters and see me direct my live-in boyfriend, SCOTT HAZE!!! Love you SCOTT!!!!” Check out the headline below.
Meanwhile, Franco is set to play Michael Glatze – the former gay activist who is now an anti-gay pastor married to a woman – in a forthcoming film co-starring Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts. Find out more about the film here.
