James May tells trolls who sent Sue Perkins death threats: ‘Kill yourselves’
By Josh Haggis
James May has fired back at Twitter trolls who sent Sue Perkins death threats after rumours emerged that she could be in line to replace Jeremy Clarkson as the host of Top Gear.
Despite the Great British Bake Off host rebuffing the claims, some fans of the show felt so strongly that they sent the openly gay comedian abusive tweets and even death threats, which resulted in her quitting Twitter for the foreseeable future.
Following the vicious backlash, Top Gear star James May took to Twitter yesterday (April 15) to condemn those sending death threats to Perkins, telling them that they should “do the world a favour” and kill themselves.
If you're one of the people sending death threats to @sueperkins could you please do the world a much bigger favour by killing yourself.

May clarified what he meant in a following tweet, saying that the BBC2 show doesn’t want people that send death threats as fans.
Obviously I don't actually want people to kill themselves but, really, we don't want them as fans.
