Jennifer Hudson surprises and serenades grooms at their wedding
By Micah Sulit
Singer Jennifer Hudson was a wedding crasher earlier this week, when she turned up at the Texas wedding of Scott and Chris Lindsey.
The Lindseys first got married in Canada in 2006. Their July 8 ceremony at the W Hotel in Dallas was among the first same-sex weddings in the city since the US Supreme Court legalised gay marriage in all states two weeks ago.
Hudson congratulated the newlyweds (or newly newlyweds?) in a video message, then revealed that she had one more surprise for them.
The curtains behind the couple then dropped, revealing the singer who performed her hit ‘I Still Love You’ from her latest album, JHUD.
Hudson is an ambassador for Turn It Up For Change, a campaign that was launched in October 2014 to promote marriage equality through music. The initiative is a partnership between the Human Rights Campaign and W Hotels.
“I owe a large part of my success to the LGBT community, who has embraced and supported me from early on in my career,” Hudson said in a statement last October.
The Lindseys both work for the Human Rights Campaign.
