Jennifer Lawrence slams Kim Davis: ‘Don’t say her name in this house’
By Will Stroude
We can’t imagine there are many rules in Jennifer Lawrence’s house, but in a new cover profile with Vogue the Hunger Games star says that she doesn’t want to hear the name ‘Kim Davis’ in her home.
Speaking to the publication on the day of Davis’ bizarre, ‘Eye of the Tiger’-soundtrack release from prison after defying a court order compelling her to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, Lawrence refers to the unlikely pin-up girl for homophobia simply as the “lady who makes me embarrassed to be from Kentucky”.
“Don’t even say her name in this house,” the Oscar-winner says, before going on a rant about “all those people holding their crucifixes, which may as well be pitchforks, thinking they’re fighting the good fight.
“I grew up in Kentucky. I know how they are.”
The 25-year-old adds that despite being raised in a Republican household, she had been put off the party by its socially conservative stance.
“I just can’t imagine supporting a party that doesn’t support women’s basic rights,” she says. ‘It’s 2015 and gay people can get married and we think that we’ve come so far, so, yay! But have we? I don’t want to stay quiet about that stuff.”
Meanwhile, Halloween might be over, but that doesn’t mean that this guy’s incredible Kim Davis make-up transformation can’t be enjoyed all year-round – check it out here.
