Jill Soloway criticised for Bruce Jenner trans meme
By Josh Haggis
The creator of Transparent has been criticised for sharing a meme that pokes fun at Bruce Jenner.
Jenner – the former husband of Kris Kardashian – has been at the centre of a media frenzy over the past few months due to his changing appearance, which has lead to rumours that he is undergoing a male-to-female transition.
Jill Soloway, writer of Amazon’s Golden Globe award-winning series, took to Facebook today (January 30) to share a picture of Jenner and his family in a mock up version of a Transparent promotional image that sees the show renamed: “Transdashian”.
Although Soloway has now removed the picture from Facebook, the editor of prettyqueer.com screencapped the image and shared it on Twitter before going on to criticise the writer for “humiliating” Jenner.
Don’t let her just delete it and apologize people. This is actually what Transparent, that show you all like, is all about.

No matter what a FUCK UP some celebrity was while they transitioned, no trans person would make meme humiliating them for it. — Tom Léger (@tomleger) January 30, 2015
And Bruce Jenner, that poor bastard, hasn’t come out as anything yet as far as I know.

Soloway, who was inspired to create Transparent after her own father came out as transgender, has yet to respond to the criticism.
