Director JJ Abrams has confirmed that the script for the eagerly-anticipated new Star Wars movie is now complete.
Star Wars Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015 and Abrams is due to start shooting in the UK later this year.
The film’s script has had input from Abrams, Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt and Star Wars franchise veteran Lawrence Kasdan.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s press tour yesterday (January 19), Abrams said of the film: “We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep. We’re full steam ahead.”
Asked about the film’s length, Abrams remained coy, saying only: “I promise you it will be movie length.”
Casting for the new Star Wars movie has been the subject of much speculation online. Original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are all believed to be returning, while Abrams has confirmed he has met with Breaking Bad actor Jesse Plemons about a potential role in the film.
