Jonah Hill has apologised after a video surfaced of him using a homophobic slur at a member of the paparazzi.

The 22 Jump Street actor branded a photographer a “faggot” during a tense exchange, but has now described his behaviour as “disgusting”.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Hill explained: “I said a disgusting word that does not at all reflect how I feel about any group of people.

“I’m not at all defending my choice of words, but I am happy to be the poster boy for thinking about [what] you say.”

He said that he considers himself a “gay rights activist”, adding: “It would break my heart to think that anyone would think … that I would be against anyone for their sexuality.”

Hill spoke out against Russia’s anti-gay laws last year, saying that he has “tons of gay friends” and “gay family members”.
