Jonathan Agassi says he is living a ‘simple life’ after struggling with drug addiction

Jonathan Agassi has opened up about his life after leaving the world of porn behind following a battle with drug addiction.

The Israeli became an international porn star within just a few months and was living the high-life, shooting scenes for Lucas Entertainment at least once a week and earning a considerable amount of money.

However, a new documentary, Jonathan Agassi Saved My Life – which is out on DVD and VOD now – chsrts the celebrated adult entertainer’s fall from grace after Lucas Entertainment terminated his contract because of their strict no drugs policy.

In an exclusive interview with Attitude back in February, Agassi said although the porn industry does not go hand-in-hand with his drug addiction, he, just like many porn stars, are often forced into escorting to bring in more income and, he explains, “most of the time the client wants to do drugs with you”.

Agassi, who was addicted to drugs for five to six years, is now clean, but he told Attitude at the time he was still “fighting those drugs like crazy” after returning to Tel Aviv, where crystal meth isn’t as readily available, to kick his addiction.

Now, while speaking to Attitude’s December issue – out now to order globally and download to any device – the former adult entertainer reveals he is living a “simple life” and isn’t connected to the gay scene at all because there is “temptation everywhere”.

“I tried to get back into working as a hairstylist and make-up artist but it kind of bored me”, he says. “Then I went into partnership with a big gay sex shop in Tel Aviv for a couple of years, but it wasn’t my thing any more.

“Now, I work in a supermarket; I have a very simple life. I’m not connected to the gay scene at all. I went from one extreme to the other, and I don’t do drugs at all.

“I don’t go clubbing because I know that there is temptation everywhere in those places — although I’m not sure that anybody could tempt me now. I don’t really have any gay friends any more either.

“I have my work friends, and I have some girl friends, and that’s enough for me. One day, I’ll find a good husband to take care of me, without the drugs and the parties.

“I think the happiest time of my life, if you need to call it that, was the beginning of my career, before the drugs. I came from a very small town in Israel and didn’t have much money. I never saw the world.”

He adds: “But today, I’m happy too because I’m living a simple life that I’ve chosen. I work in a nice place and make good money.”

 

Agassi does admit that he misses the “freedom” of the porn industry and says his career could have been “very successful” had he stayed away from drugs.

He continues: “The thing I miss most from the porn industry is the freedom; not having to wake up early every morning to go to work.

“If I’d stayed away from drugs I think my career could have been very successful.

“But the problem is that I have an addictive personality, so the porn world specifically was ‘good’ for me, because it’s a world with a lot of freedom, with a lot of privileges, with a lot of money — well it used to be, today it’s not like that.

“You travel the world, you meet lots of hot guys, you have a lot of money, you can also do escorting to make more money.

“But I am happy with where I am today. And if I had the chance to do it again, I wouldn’t.”
