Kansas Governor strips LGBT workers of their rights

Republican Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has issued an order to strip LGBT workers of their rights.
Former Democrat Governor Kathleen Sebelius issued the anti-discrimination order back in 2007, which helped protect LGBT workers from being discriminated against based on their gender or sexual orientation.
However, Brownback has now issued an executive order to rescind the rules that were in place to protect LGBT workers, arguing that they should have been created through legislation, reports Huffington Post.
Read the order in full below:
Executive Order 15-02 reaffirms the commitment of the State of Kansas to employment practices which do not discriminate based on race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry or age. It further establishes that state entities will implement employment management practices for veterans and disabled individuals that include outreach, hiring, support, mentoring, development, rewards and recognition for achievement.
The Human Rights Campaign have labelled Brownback’s move “foul and reckless” and argued that Kansas has “taken a step backward,” despite gay marriage being legal in the state.
“For eight years, LGBT state employees have been guaranteed non-discrimination protections and in one foul, reckless, and shameful decision, Governor Brownback has taken the state backward,” said a spokesperson for the group in a statement. “His deplorable behavior is a direct assault on fairness and equality in the state.”
It’s great to see the Governor is working hard to fix the state’s currently crumbling economy. Oh, wait…
