Kellie Maloney warns UKIP “cavemen” to accept same-sex families

Former UKIP candidate Kellie Maloney has warned the party not to remain “cavemen” when dealing with LGBT issues.
The Celebrity Big Brother star, who came out as transgender last summer, recently received a standing ovation after delivering an emotional speech at UKIP’s Spring conference.
Despite previously speaking out against same-sex families, Maloney’s views appear to have softened, as she revealed during a recent Twitter exchange.
“I have no worries about same can sex married or family’s no one can count for falling in love (sic),” she responded when questioned.
“If a child is happen looked after that’s all that counts. Single, same-sex or a mum and dad, a child’s welfare has to be put 1st.”
In a further tweet, Maloney claimed that UKIP members “need to live in the real world if they want to be a party of the people or they will all ways be cavemen”.
In an interview last year, Maloney apologised for previous anti-gay comments, claiming that she “knew it was wrong but I was saying it in jest”.
