Ku Klux Klan say trans people are ‘freaks jeopardising the safety of bathrooms’
The leader of America’s biggest white supremacist group, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), has admitted to distributing transphobic fliers in Alabama and Mississippi bathrooms designed recruit new members.
The actions come in the wake of North Carolina’s anti-trans laws, which prohibit trans-gendered people from choosing which bathroom to use.
The message states: “These freaks are jeopardising the safety of bathrooms all across the nation for our women and children. This needs to STOP.”
Grand Dragon Robert Jones, leader of the Loyal White Knights KKK chapter in North Carolina, ordered members to circulate hateful fliers to urge residents to “stand up against the transgender community.”
“I think that it’s sick that the federal government is trying to push us on a state level,” Jones said in an interview with the Huffington Post.
“I think that it’s going to become an issue in the future,” he said. “I have a feeling a lot of violence is going to come out of this.”
Police were identified of the fliers after local residents found them in what appeared to be random locations.
Alabama and Mississippi are known for their conservatism, and have been staunchly against LGBT rights granted in more liberal states.
Asked if he’s ever met a transgender individual, Jones answered yes, saying “We see these people all the time,”
“They all look the same to me. The men are dressed like women. The women dressed like men.”
The flier aggressively purports: “If you’re confused and don’t know what sex you are today, USE A TREE OUT IN THE BACK YARD.”
The Obama administration is currently challenging the HB2 law, calling it blatant discrimination.
