Lady Gaga ‘banned from China’
Lady Gaga has reportedly been banned from Chinese airwaves after meeting the Dalai Lama this week.
It all began at the US Conference of Mayors. on Monday (June 26), the official non-partisan organizstion of cities with population of 30,000 or more took place in Indianapolis.
Aiming to promote the development of effective national/suburban policy, His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave a speech on the necessity of more compassionate cities.
Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, then met the spiritual leader for a 20-minute Q&A that she aired live on her Facebook page on what hoped to be a message of kindness and compassion:
‘’‘Hope is essential to keep the world going.’ – His Holiness the Dalai Lama #withcompassion #usmc2016 #kindyouth’’
Following Lady Gaga’s meeting, the Chinest Communist party’s propaganda department issued “an important instruction” banning her the singer’s material from mainland China, Hong Kong’s Apple Daily reports.
Seen by over three million people, Gaga’s meeting was quick to attract the disapproving comments of hundreds of unhappy Chinese fans on popular Asian social app Weibo: “She has not considered Chinese fans.”
Other’s have called out the ‘Bad Romance’ singer on her “stupidity” and “ignorance” for joining forces with the Dalai Lama, known to be in one never-ending diplomatic war with the Chinese government over the disputed status of Tibet since 1959.
Gaga is yet to comment on the matter, though reports state she had already been banned from the country over her “confusing” second studio album Born This Way, which celebrated LGBT equality.
We’ve got a feeling this is one war she’ll survive.
