Lady Gaga’s fifth studio album will be out this year
Lady Gaga dropped massive news into the laps of all of her fans at last night’s Golden Globe Awards, confirming that her eagerly-anticipated fifth studio album will indeed be released this year.
After winning a Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as the Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel, the 29-year-old apparently revealed the news to reporters while backstage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
“You know, I am putting out an album this year. I won’t tell you when,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to being vague about the actual release date, Gaga also kept her poker face on about its musical content.
“That’s a difficult thing to say as I don’t know that you yet know what I will look like for my next album, as I’m still creating all of those things,” she said.
“It’s something that is a gradual change always with me.”
But the Grammy award-winning singer did say there was a relationship between the way in which she played characters both on screen and within her music.
“What was nice about playing The Countess is it reminded me that in my own life and in my music, I’m always — at times — playing a character, and I become them fully,” she said.
“And living inside of her was liberating, I’ll tell you, because she doesn’t give a sh** about anything.”
Lady Gaga’s forthcoming fifth studio album is currently untitled and will be her first release since collaborating with Tony Bennett for Cheek to Cheek in September 2014. Her fourth studio album Artpop, was released back in 2013.
