HBO comedy-drama Girls has been renewed for a fourth season.

The Lena Dunham-created series will return for a new run of episodes in 2015, the US network confirmed today at their Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour panel.

The announcements come two days before Girls return to screens in the US for a third season. The new episodes will premiere on Sky Atlantic in the UK from January 20.

Dunham returns as Hannah Horvath for the third season, and is joined once again by co-stars Allison Williams (Marnie), Zosia Mamet (Shoshanna) and Jemima Kirke (Jessa).

Adam Driver and Alex Karpovsky also return as Alex and Ray, but Christopher Abbott – who played Charlie – will not be returning to the series.
