Les Dennis has joined the cast of Coronation Street.
The actor and television presenter will play Michael Rogers, a petty criminal who will become caught up in the lives of one family after he breaks into their house.
Dennis has previously appeared in Family Affairs, Brookside and Crossroads, as well as presenting Family Fortunes between 1987 and 2002.
Speaking of joining the long-running ITV soap, Dennis said: “I am so thrilled to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. It has always been my favourite television programme, mixing high drama with some of the best comedy on screen.
“I’ve loved it since the beginning. I grew up watching all the amazing characters in the show. I now not only have the chance of meeting them, but also working with them. It doesn’t get better than that.”
Meanwhile, Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn added: “Les is a fantastic performer and a real coup for Corrie. I can’t wait for him to join the team.”
Les Dennis will film his first scenes as Michael on Monday (January 27) and will appear on screen from March.
