LGBT football supporters attacked by homophobic thugs
By Josh Haggis
A group of gay football fans were the target of a calculated homophobic attack yesterday (January 10).
The Charlton Rainbows – an LGBT Charlton Athletic supporters group – were invited to meet up with another group that was supposedly “equivalent to theirs” before Athletic’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion (BHAFC).
However, the fellow LGBT group of fans turned out to be fake and the Charlton Rainbows were instead attacked by a group of thugs who were lying in wait.
In a succession of tweets made today (January 11), the Charlton Rainbows thanked people for their support following the attack:
The incident is currently being investigated by Metropolitan and Sussex police.
