A man has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old boy after meeting on Grindr.
The teenage boy from Mathura, India, arranged to meet with the 24-year-old man after speaking on the hook-up app, according to the Times of India.
However, after meeting they drove 5km away to a restaurant for dinner and a few hours later, two other men joined them and coerced the boy to go with them to a jungle.
The boy’s family then received a call asking for 5,000,000 rupee – the equivalent of £56,000 – ransom after abducting the teen.
His father reported his son’s disappearance to the police who were able to track the phone used to make the call.
The suspects’ car broke down and was recognised by a police car stationed nearby. Police then approached the vehicle and rescued the boy.
The main suspect was arrested but the other two managed to escape. Now, a manhunt is underway to find the other suspects.
