Man arrested after threatening to ‘exterminate’ gay people in Orlando-style attack

By Will Stroude

A man from Florida has been arrested and charged with a federal crime after threatening to kill gay people in a Facebook rant.

According to the New York Times, a criminal complaint released on Sunday (September 4) by the FBI said that Craig Allen Jungwirth, 50, threatened to kill gay people in a post in which he promised to to “clean up” his local community from “AIDS-infested losers.”

“None of you deserve to live,” he wrote. “If you losers thought the Pulse nightclub shooting was bad, wait till you see what I’m planning for Labor Day.”

He added: “Since you… aren’t dying from AIDS anymore, I have a better solution to exterminate you.”

The threats come less than three months after Omar Mateen opened fire on Orlando gay club, Pule, killing 49 people and injuring 53 more.

Mr. Jungwirth has since been charged with using interstate commerce to make threats, and will appear in court on Tuesday (September 6). If convicted, he could face a fine and up to five years in prison.
