A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Russian LGBTQ activist Yelena Grigorieva.
Yelena’s body was found in bushes near her home in St Petersburg on Sunday (July 21) according to the news website Fontanka.
She suffered from with multiple stab wounds and there were signs of strangulation and according to the Investigative Committee, she was stabbed eight times in the face and back.
Yelena reportedly knew the assailant following an argument between them.
Although the name of the suspect was not given, he was identified as a man born in Soviet Krygyzstan in 1981 and had been drunk during the attack.
“The murder was committed on domestic grounds during a conflict that arose between two people who had known each other previously,” the Investigative Committee said.
