Man ordered his girlfriend to rape his 11-year-old son because he thought he was gay
Sean Cole and Khadeijah Moore are facing life in prison
A man is facing life in prison for ordering his girlfriend to rape his then-11-year-old autistic son because he thought he was gay.
Sean Cole, 29, and girlfriend Khadeijah Moore were convicted of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse of a child younger than 12 by a Madison County jury on Tuesday (March 27).
The crimes occurred during the week of Thanksgiving in 2016, when Cole’s son was staying with his father in Huntsville, Alabama, and was found in a “compromising position” with another boy, AL.com reports.
After discovering his son, Cole reportedly ordered Moore, who was 20-years-old at the time, to perform sexual acts on the child. The boy was also forced to perform sex acts on Moore.
The child’s mother, who lives in Georgia, became suspicious when he began asking questions about sex and alerted police when he told her what had happened in Huntsville.
Madison Assistant District Attorney Tim Douthit, said: “It was solely that (Cole) was worried that his son was gay or might become gay. There was no evidence that he had a sexual attraction to his son or children. He just thought he could, for a lack of better words, ‘straighten him out.'”
He added: “I have been prosecuting child sex crimes for a long time now, and this is the first time I’ve ran into anything like this.”
According to Douthit, the child, who is now 13, is doing well after the assault but believes he “failed” his father for speaking out and “thinks he’s the bad guy”.
The couple were charged in January 2017 and Cole has remained in the Madison County Jail since his arrest. Moore, however, is considered a fugitive for failing to show up for trial after being released on bail.
Police have issued a warrant for her arrest and the pair are due for sentencing on May 24.
