Man says Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall was a huge inspiration for him to come out
Conan Smith took to social media to tell his followers that he is gay

A man has said Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall inspired him to come out.
Conan Smith, 22, took to social media over the weekend to publicly come out with a heartfelt post on Facebook where he detailed how it was the right time and it was something he “wanted to do” and wasn’t forced.
In the lengthy post, he said: “I’m gay! This is not something I had to do but something I wanted to do.
“The reason for me doing this status is because I finally feel that’s time that I no longer have to hide something that is such a huge part of my life.”
Smith then took to Twitter to post his message to the rest of his followers and wrote how the Little Mix star was a huge inspiration for his coming out.

He wrote: “So last night I decided to finally come out as gay. It was honestly the scariest but most amazing thing ever.
“The support has been incredble. #JadeThirlwall from @LittleMix is a huge inspiration to me and I am so thankful for the platform she gives to the #LGBT community.
“A community that I am now so proud to be apart of! Jade along with many others made a desperate dream of mine a reality and I am so excited to properly start my life. #LoveIsLove #BeYou #Thankful #LittleMix [sic]”
To add to the excitement of him now living his life the way he wants, the X Factor girl group replied to his message.
They said: “You should be so, so proud of yourself. And I feel so humbled and honoured to have a played a part in your personal journey.
“Congratulations on this new chapter of your life, where you can be completely yourself with the love and support of those around you jade x [sic]”
