Man who attempted to put acid in lube dispenser at a gay sex club spared jail

By Josh Lee

A man who tried to put Hydrochloric acid in a lube dispenser at a gay sex club will not face prison, GayStarNews reports.

62 year old Hengky Irawan was charged with administering poisons with intent to cause pain, entering a licensed premises to commit an indictable offense and intentionally or recklessly damaging the dispenser.

He had gone to a sex club in Sydney earlier this year to add the acid to the lube dispensers. When he opened the dispenser he broke a security seal, alerting security. No one was harmed as he was caught before he could spike the lube.

While the prosecution argued that his attempts was tantamount to a hate crime, Magistrate Beverley Schurr disagreed, sayinf “It was directed towards patrons at the nightclub because he felt aggrieved about being kicked out earlier in the year.

“It was not about their sexual orientation [it was because he was] angry about being excluded himself.”
