McGowan sorry for offending with ‘gay misogyny’ remarks

Rose McGowan has apologised for offending the gay community with her recent comments about “gay misogyny”.
The former Charmed actress attracted criticism when she said that gay men are “more misogynistic than straight men” while talking to American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis during his podcast last month (October).
During the podcast, McGowan went on to question the current state of the gay rights movement, saying: “I see now people who have basically fought for the right to stand on top of a float wearing an orange speedo and take molly [MDMA].” Read her comments in full here.
In an op-ed written for The Advocate yesterday (November 5) titled Rose McGowan on the Need for More Gay Male Feminists, the actress admitted that she “could have articulated her point better” – but insisted that she stands by her views.
“I made a dumb generalisation, and for that I apologize. For everything else I said, no, I will not,” the 41-year-old actress wrote. “I will correct myself and my off-the-cuff comment — gay men certainly aren’t more misogynistic than heteros, but I’ve met some who have come damn close. In some ways, it’s more damaging, because it’s coming from men that have faced so much hate.”
Addressing those who have accused her of being “anti-gay” following her remarks, McGowan added: “And as for those who question my allegiance to the gay community and try to paint me as a gay-hater, I have a big eye roll reserved just for you. I’m a human, I mess up, but I mess up with love and good intentions. I feel like I’m in a fight with my family.”
