Michael Phelps’ alleged girlfriend reveals she is intersex

Michael Phelp’s self-professed girlfriend has revealed that she is intersex.

Taylor Lianne Chandler was linked with the former Olympic swimmer shortly after he checked into rehab following his arrest on a DUI charge in September.

The 42-year-old has now revealed that she is intersex, and was born David Roy Fitch before undergoing surgery in her teenage years to remove her male genetalia, Huffington Post reports.

Chandler, who says Phelps was unaware that she was intersex when they began their alleged physical relationship, discussed her past in a Facebook post made last week (November 13):

“I was born intersex and named David Roy Fitch at birth. But the time I could walk and talk I made it clear I was a girl and dressed as one. In my early teens I was medically diagnosed and went on testosterone blockers, at 15 estrogen enhancers. My birth certificate was modified along with my name while I was a teenager, prior to any corrective surgery.”

She went on to talk about details of her alleged relationship with Phelps, saying:

“I am probably going to lose him because he is a brand that his team wants to protect and things since he went to rehab came to my attention that didn’t put him or our relationship in the best light.”

Doubts have been cast over Chandler’s claims that she was in a relationship with the sports star, however, after she set up a Facebook page listing herself as a “public figure”. She has yet to post an image of her together with Phelps in the same frame.

Phelps, who is believed to still be in rehab, has yet to comment on the claims.
