Miley Cyrus is to perform an acoustic set for the MTV Unplugged series.

The Wrecking Ball singer will rework a variety of tracks from her number one album Bangerz especially for the performance, which will take place on Wednesday, January 29.

During the performance, Miley will be joined on stage by some surprise guests – but their identity is likely to remain a secret until the show.

MTV executive Amy Doyle said: “The Unplugged stage has been home to some of the most iconic live performances of all time. Miley’s vision for the performance is like nothing we’ve ever seen. I can say that this will easily be one of the most memorable Unplugged performances to date.”

Miley has caused just a little bit of controversy since returning to music with We Can’t Stop last summer, particularly in the wake of her saucy VMAs performance with Robin Thicke.

Speaking to Attitude last year, Miley admitted that her record label had been concerned about her raunchy music video for We Can’t Stop.

She told us: “I just had to say: “Look, if it fails you don’t ever have to trust me again, but I promise you this isn’t gonna fail. I know what I’m onto with this.”
