Morrissey will release his tenth studio album later this year.
The former The Smiths frontman has signed a new record deal with Universal Music’s US imprint Harvest Records, and will begin work on his next record later this month.
In a statement, he said he was “thrilled” to have signed the new contract.
Piero Giramonti and Jacqueline Saturn, Harvest’s joint general managers, confirmed that the first album under the new deal will be released in the second half of 2014.
They added that Morrissey will work in France with renowned producer Joe Chiccarelli (U2, Elton John, The Strokes) on the follow-up to 2009’s Years of Refusal.
Morrissey is also expected to announce tour dates for 2014 in due course.
