Nathan Lane and long-time partner Devlin Elliot get hitched
Hollywood actor Nathan Lane has married his long-time partner Devlin Elliot in New York City.
Following their 18-year relationship, the Tony-Award winning star of The Producers, The Birdcage and Modern Family, married Elliot, a playwright and producer, in a small ceremony on Tuesday, reports People magazine.
“Nathan and Devlin were married in a small ceremony in New York City this week. Everyone is extremely happy,” a representative said.
The pair recently worked together on a children’s book, Naughty Mabel, inspired by their nine-year-old pug Mable.
“I mentioned to Devlin how hilariously over-privileged our Mabel was becoming, and jokingly suggested we should write a children’s book called ‘Mabel of the Hamptons,” said Lane to Playbill.
“Devlin thought this was a great idea and actually sat down and wrote a first draft. I realised he meant business and so we dove in together, and many drafts later ‘Naughty Mabel’ was born.”
While promoting the book on The View, Lane shared a pair of rings they had already bought.
They added if they were to ever marry, it would be a low-key event.
“Well, we don’t want to rush into anything,” he said.
After years of speculation, Lane publicly confirmed he was gay in 1999, even though he had already told his family at age 21.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
