Neil Patrick Harris has no interest in being an ambassador for the gay community.
The openly gay actor – who has two children with husband David Burtka – is currently celebrating Pride Month in Tel Aviv with his husband and was announced to be the ambassador for Israel’s largest Pride parade.
But, while speaking to the Associated Press, the How I Met Your Mother star said he doesn’t want to be an ambassador for anything except his children.
He said: “I’m just a guy who is married to another guy and we have kids and we live our lives I would say as ‘normally’ as one would.
“But I think normal is a very subjective term, especially in the gay community.
“I legitimately have no interest in being a representative or an ambassador for anything except my kids.”
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots – an event that kickstarted the modern gay movement – and Harris said he was happy to ‘promote the positivity’ of the LGBTQ community.
He continued: “It’s nice to appreciate where we’ve come from.
“I’m very grateful that I live in a time and in a world where the needle has moved a lot because of others and I’m happy to promote the positivity of it all.”
