New documentary ’49 Pulses’ to show the harrowing reality of Orlando club massacre
The film will focus on the testimonies of survivors, victims' family members and police recordings.
The first trailer for for a unflinching new documentary on the Orlando Pulse massacre has been released.
Charlie Minn’s 49 Pulses looks back at the infamous shooting at LGBT nightclub in June 2016, which saw gunman Omar Mateen kill 49 people and injure 68.
The documentary will focus on the testimonies of survivors, victims’ family members and police recordings, Orlando Weekly reports.
“My passion is to make a documentary about the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting in order to honour the victims,” Minn said of the motivations behind the film.
“I am fully aware of the sensitivity surrounding the tragedy and would never make such a movie unless it was to pay tribute to the victims by telling their stories of humanity and heroism.
“My goals are to inform, educate and raise awareness for innocent victims stories that often gets horribly overlooked because of the attention given to the killer.”
49 Pulses will premiere at the Orlando Fashion Square Mall Theatre on Friday (January 26). Minn’s last documentary, 77 Minutes, documented the 1984 mass shooting at a McDoanld’s in San Diego.
The director has already begun his next film documenting last year’s attack on a Las Vegas music festival, which left 59 dead and tragically overtook Pulse as the most deadly mass shooting in modern US history.
