New Marilyn Monroe miniseries in the works
By Josh Haggis
US cable network Lifetime is working on a new miniseries about the life of Marilyn Monroe.
The miniseries will be based on J Randy Taraborrelli’s book The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, which became a New York Times best seller when it was released five years ago in 2009.
The TV adaptation, simply titled Marilyn, will apparently explore the iconic star’s troubled relationships, as well as her struggles with mental illness and friendship with the Kennedy family before her death in 1962, reports Deadline.
The series is being scripted by Stephen Kronish, whose CV includes The Kennedys. Sherrybaby helmer Laurie Collyer is on board as director. Casting for the project – including who will play Marilyn Monroe – has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Lifetime is also working on a film about the late Whitney Houston, which is set to air next year – find out more here.
