NFL reporter’s locker room broadcast fail: ‘I was distracted by all the big penises’

By Nick Bond

An Australian radio reporter crashed and burned during an impromptu post-game interview in an NFL locker room last week – but he had an excuse.

Comedian and radio host Mick Molloy was inside the San Francisco 49ers’ locker room at MetLife Stadium, New York, following their loss to the Giants last week. Speaking to fellow Aussie Jarrad Hayne, a new recruit to the NFL, Molloy got off to a bad start when he misnamed another Australian NFL player. Here’s how it went down, as broadcast on Australian radio and reported by News.com.au:

MICK MOLLOY: “When Craig Wing from Melbourne kicks to Jarryd Hayne, another Australian in the NFL-”

JARRYD HAYNE: “You mean Brad Wing.”

MOLLOY: “Yeah. OK. From Brad Wing to Jarryd Hayne, Aussie to Aussie. The first time. Nobody knew that was going to happen.”

HAYNE: “It’s the second time, actually.”

MOLLOY: “I’ve done my research.”

HAYNE: “You’re on fire, buddy.”

MOLLOY: “Sorry, I was distracted by all the big penises in the locker room right now.”

HAYNE: [Silence].
