Nick Griffin’s bodyguard ‘arrested for homophobic abuse’

BNP leader Nick Griffin’s bodyguard has been arrested over allegations of homophobic abuse.
Martin Reynolds, 46, was arrested while attending a fundraising event for the party in St Helens over the weekend, the Telegraph reports.
He allegedly made homophobic comments to a woman in the area, and was taken into police custody on suspicion of an aggravated public order offence.
Merseyside Police said in a statement: “Patrols attended and, as a result of enquiries made at the scene, a 46-year-old man from the Leeds area was arrested on suspicion of a homophobically aggravated public order offence.
“An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing.”
BNP spokesman, Simon Darby, criticised Merseyside Police for the arrest, describing them as “the paramilitary wing of the Labour Party”.
“In Merseyside, arrests for alleged political incorrectness of any fashion are now as routine as speeding tickets for motorists,” he added.
Griffin has voiced his opposition to same-sex marriage and has defended the introduction of anti-gay laws in Russia.
