Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 Breakfast Show has added 700,000 listeners in recent months, according to RAJAR statistics released yesterday (February 6).

The DJ – who took over from Chris Moyles on weekday mornings in September 2012 – attracted 6.29 million listeners between September and December last year.

The figure is up on Grimshaw’s 5.58m from last summer, but still down on last year’s 6.69m.

Radio 1’s overall listenership has dipped slightly, receiving 10.9m during the period compared to 11.09m in the final quarter of 2012.

Chris Evans’ Radio 2 Breakfast Show is still ahead of Grimshaw, drawing an average audience of 9.8m over the quarter.

Meanwhile in London, Capital is still the biggest station with 2.15m per week, while KISS 100 (1.97m) has passed Magic 105.4 (1.7m) to become the capital’s second biggest station.
