Nick Jonas: ‘JoBros didn’t do enough to own gay fanbase’
By Josh Haggis
Nick Jonas has admitted that the Jonas Brothers could have done more to acknowledge their gay fans.
The sibling pop trio, best known for their hits S.O.S. Burnin’ Up and Paranoid, split in 2013 after performing together for eight years. Nick Jonas has since gone on to launch a solo career and told his management recently that he wanted to do “everything” he could to “embrace” his gay fans. Read more here.
Now the singer/actor, 22, has said he and his brothers could have made similar efforts to embrace their gay fans during their time together as a band.
“I grew up doing theatre here in New York, surrounded by [the gay community] and loving it at a young age,” he told NewNowNext. “When my brothers and I started touring and had some success, naturally they became a pretty big part of our following. I don’t know that we ever did enough to really own that.”
Nick Jonas recently made a promotional appearance at a New York gay club and delighted clubbers by showing off his six-pack – watch the video here.
He has also revealed that his character in upcoming US drama series Kingdom will have a big storyline revolving around his sexuality – read the full story here.
