Nigel Farage reveals “frightening” French assassination attempt

The leader of UKIP, Nigel Farrage, has revealed French police are investigating what appears to be a “frightening” assassination attempt as a wheel fell off his car along a busy motorway.

As Farage was driving along a road in Dunkirk, a wheel fell off his Volvo V70 in an alleged act of sabotage, with the nuts on all three other wheels found to be loose, Pink News reports.

After the controversial leader lost control of his car, he told The Mail on Sunday he was forced to exit the vehicle and jump a motorway barrier to avoid oncoming traffic.

“It was in the middle of bloody nowhere, and I was caught in a very bad position,” he said.

“There was a huge section of roadworks with cars going back and forth on the same side of the carriageway. I suddenly realised I was losing steering but there was no hard shoulder to pull on to.

“I slowed down, put the hazards on and then one of the wheels came off. I jumped over the wall as quickly as I bloody well could to get away from lorries and everything.”

While French police and mechanics have said the incident was a “malicious act”, Farage has decided against proceeding with any “further action”.

“The French police said that sometimes nuts on one wheel can come a bit loose – but not on all four,” he said.

Farage told The Mail on Sunday he had previously received death threats in the past but was unsure who was behind the latest incident.

“I haven’t got a clue. Quite frankly, the way my life’s been over the past two and a half years, nothing surprises me.”

In April last year, Attitude reported Farage had tried to get media attention by stating “foreigners with HIV” were “draining the NHS”.

At the time, Farage had said, “to wake people up to the truth of what’s going on, you sometimes have to say things to get noticed. Political parties evolve and change.”

“If you look at the way UKIP is fighting this general election, from our manifesto to speeches I’ve given all over the country, what I’m saying is we no longer need to make the negative arguments about the effect that immigration has had.”
