Nigel Farage has caused controversy again after saying he is confident that Western civilisation “can be saved” after tweeting a picture of Justin Trudeau and Sadiq Khan.
The former UKIP leader took to social media to express his dismay at the Canadian Prime Minister and the Mayor of London hugging each other while Trudeau was visiting ahead of the Commonwealth Leader’s meeting.
He wrote: “This photo is not filling me with confidence that Western civilisation can be saved. [sic]”
His tweet has been retweeted more than 4,000 times and surprisingly received a mixed reaction.

Many agreed with the politician’s comments but others dubbed it as a homophobic remark.
One Twitter user wrote: “I just want a record that you actually tweeted a picture of Justin Trudeau and Sadiq Khan hugging as a threat to Western Civilisation. I don’t think I need to say anything else. [sic]”
Another confused user added: “Are you being racist, homophobic or both Nige? [sic]”
