NJ Governor hits back at Texas Governor’s anti-gay comments

New Jersey’s Republican Governor, Chris Christie, has spoken out against Texas Governor Rick Perry’s recent anti-gay comments.

Last weekend, Perry made the decision to publicly endorse so-called “reparative therapy” for gay people, a process that purports to be able to change a person’s sexual orientation, which has been dismissed by the lion’s share of the medical profession.

Asked about his pro-“reparative therapy” stance in a subsequent question and answer session, Perry said: “I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way.”

New Jersey Governor Christie, who recently signed a bill barring “reparative therapy” legislation in his state, has now criticised Perry’s comments.

“I disagree with him, and I don’t believe that’s an apt analogy,” said Christie, a possible 2016 Presidential candidate, during a visit to San Francisco, Califonria this week.

“Every Governor and public official has to speak for themselves on these issues,” he told reporters. “I just spoke for myself.”
