A non-binary activist was allegedly assaulted by a group of men outside a busy coffee shop.

Jamie Windust took to Instagram over the weekend to revealed that they were at a coffee shop when three men approached them and allegedly assaulted them by placing their hands and head on their body.

Windust said: “One proceeded to put his hands and head underneath to ‘investigate’ what I was.

“The fact that no one responded to the incident, asked if I was OK, or even looked over was completely shocking and not OK.”

Windust posted the story on social media to highlight the abuse and violence trans and non-binary people face.

The incident was reported to the MET police who are investigating the crime.

Windust added: “Straight people, step your asses into gear and be aware of your surroundings.

“I was vulnerable and audibly shouting on the street at a busy time and not one person came over or asked if I was OK.

“I will never change myself for other people, I will continue to be myself and will continue to empower myself and my community to know our worth… if one of us is not free, none of us are.”
