Number of US men who’ve had sex with another man has doubled in less than 30 years

The number of American men who report they’ve had sex with another man has doubled in less than 30 years.
That’s according to new from Florida Atlantic University into sexual attitudes in the United States, using data pulled from the General Social Survey (GSS), a nationally representative survey of US adults conducted since 1972, IB Times reports.
The report found that the percentage of American men who say they’ve had sex with another man has almost doubled since 1989, from 4.5% to 8.2%.
For women the figure more than doubled, from 3.1% to 7.7%.
And it seems the young are certainly open to the idea of same-sex experiences: Among US men aged 18 to 29 years old, 7.5% reported having at least one same-sex sexual encounter in their lifetimes, while for women the figure stood at 12.2%.
While it’s not clear whether the rise is because same-sex sexual relations are becoming more frequent or because respondents now feel more comfortable divulging such information, researchers say the cultural and generational change when it comes to same-sex relationships is clear.
