One person was shot in the arm when a dispute escalated as San Francisco’s Pride celebrations took place on Saturday (June 27).
The 64-year-old bystander was hit after a row between a group of young people, who are not believed to have been connected to Pride, saw one person fire several shots.
The unnamed man is in a stable condition in hospital, the Reuters reports.
“The incident is believed to have started when several groups of men, unrelated to the PRIDE event, got in a verbal argument near or inside the venue,” San Francisco Police Department said.
Officer Carlos Manfredi confirmed that several people were being questioned about the shooting, which is said to have caused “a chaotic scene” as people ran from the area.
Manfredi confirmed that the shooting was not in connection to the Pride celebrations, while a concert marking the end of day one of the event was taking place across the city.
