Paul Ross: ‘I cheated on my wife with a man for a year’
By Josh Haggis
TV and radio presenter Paul Ross has revealed that he cheated on his wife for a year with a man.
Ross, 57, the older brother of Jonathan Ross, embarked on an affair with Barry Olivier, a former teacher, after they met at a dogging spot near the presenter’s home in Berkshire.
Speaking in The Sun on Sunday today (August 31), Ross claimed that his male lover introduced him to the drug ephedrine, also known as “meow meow”, to which he later became addicted.
“I tried this stuff and then we had sex and it was just incredibly intense. It was all about the drugs,” Ross said, before continuing: “It was a dependency that got worse and worse – and I was then doing five or six lines of it.”
“I have started counselling for my drug addiction. I have had two sessions already. I can’t believe how stupid I’ve been,” Ross added.
The affair ended when Ross’s wife, Jackie, whom he married in 2004, found out about her husband’s infidelity. She has now vowed to stand by her husband, saying: “I know 90 per cent of Paul is a good man. He’s a good dad. I feel the sex was part of the mephedrone package, I don’t see it as a gay relationship, I see it as part of the drugs.”
Paul Ross currently hosts the BBC London 94.9 Breakfast Show alongside former GMTV presenter Penny Smith. He also makes regular TV appearances on This Morning and The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
