PayPal founder discusses his sexuality publicly at the Republican National Convention
Peter Thiel, the billionaire behind PayPal, told crowds that he was “proud to be gay” at the RNC this week.
The tech giant, who’s worth $2.8 billion called on the party to focus on “real problems” as opposed to fighting the trans community.
Speaking to the crowds, Theil said, “when I was a kid, the great debate was about how to defeat the Soviet Union.”
“And we won. Now we are told that the great debate is about who gets to use which bathroom.
He then turned his attention to presidential candidate Donald Trump, saying “Donald Trump is right. It’s time to end the era of stupid wars and rebuild our country.”
The current Republican’s party platform on LGBT rights is widely acknowledged as its most hostile yet. Despite this, the businessman reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, saying “I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican”.
He added, “But most of all I am proud to be an American.”
The crowd then chanted “USA! USA!”
