Pics | Mexican high school boys wear skirts to school to tackle gender stereotypes

One public high school in Mexico City is paving the way when it comes to challenging gender roles with its own celebratory ‘skirt day’.

Imgur user TheOnlyJuanEver shared some highlights of his rather different school day online, where they’ve attracted hundreds of positive comments and were picked up by Gay Star News.

“Every year, every guy in my high school in Mexico wears a skirt/dress, and every girl wears a tie,” the pupil said.

“It’s a movement to support gender equality and to fight gender roles in society. I don’t know exactly how it started, it was celebrated long before I got into the school.”
