Poll: 1 in 2 young people say they’re not 100% heterosexual

According to a new YouGov poll, about half of 18-24 year olds say they’re neither 100% heterosexual nor 100% homosexual.
The survey of 1,632 British adults was based on the Kinsey scale of sexuality, developed by Alfred Kinsey in the 1940s. The poll revealed how each generation viewed sexuality – younger generations say their sexuality is less set in stone.
When asked what they thought of sexuality, more respondents across all age groups picked the answer “Sexuality is a scale – it is possible to be somewhere near the middle” over “There is no middle ground – you are either heterosexual or homosexual”. As a whole, 60% of the British public agreed that there is a spectrum of sexual orientation, while 27% said it’s a binary choice. (The rest said they didn’t know.)
Overall, 72% of British adults say they are completely heterosexual, while 4% declare themselves as completely homosexual. Additionally, 17% have had a sexual encounter with someone of the same sex.
