Cult Norwegian pop singer Annie and artist Bjarne Melgaard have teamed up for a song and short film provoked by the anti-gay laws in Russia.

Annie recorded the song, titled Russian Kiss, with her longtime producer Richard X (Will Young, Rachel Stevens, Liberty X) in London last November. Its lyrics “fight for the freedom of love,” a press release explains, “and are pointed directly towards Putin and Russia”. Listen to a clip below.

Meanwhile, the accompanying Russian Kiss short film is described as a “colourful, hard hitting [piece] protesting against the Putin Regime and its anti gay laws”.

The full Russian Kiss track and short film will be released on Friday (February 7) – the day the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia begins. Part of the proceeds from the song and short film will go to the international LGBT group All Out.
