Pride in London lineup announced

The lineup for the Pride in London main stage has been unveiled, and there’s set to be decent serving of man candy on display come the afternoon of June 27.

Former X Factor finalist and MOBO-nominated soul artist Rebecca Ferguson will be joined by former Attitude cover stars Blue and Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro on the main stage in Trafalgar Square later this month, heading a line-up of over 30 acts including, singers, dancers, speakers and special guests who will entertain the expected 10,000-strong audience.

Speaking about the upcoming performance, Blue – who released fifth studio album Colours earlier this year – said: “We are thrilled and excited to be performing at Pride London in Trafalgar Square this year.

“We have been lucky enough to have performed at several Pride events in recent years across the UK and abroad but nothing will beat the feeling of being on stage at home in London.

“We are proud of the work Pride in London do bringing the whole community together regardless of age or gender.”

Meanwhile, Rebecca Ferguson said of her pride appearance: “I’m so excited to be performing on the main stage in Trafalgar Square for this year’s Pride in London festival.

“Pride is such an important part of the city’s annual event calendar – an opportunity for everyone to come together, regardless of gender or sexuality, and celebrate the freedoms we all enjoy and the equality that generations have campaigned for.

Collabro – whose second studio album Act II currently sits at Number Two on the Official UK Albums Chart – added they hoped their performance would bring people together.

“We are really pleased to be performing at Pride this year to celebrate a year full of victories for the LGBT community,” the band said. “Everyone deserves the right to love who they want and we hope our music brings people together no matter their sexuality or what sex they identify with, or if they identify with one at all!”

This year’s London pride parade takes place in the capital on Saturday June 27, alongside a festival in Trafalgar Square and activities in Soho.

The event has been embroiled in controversy over the last week, after facing a backlash for allowing UKIP’s LGBT group to participate in the parade – and then suffering another one when they banned the group on ‘safety grounds’ – find out more here.
